Central Ohio Leadership Academy

The Central Ohio Leadership Academy (COLA) is a high-impact, six-day leadership development experience for rising high school juniors and seniors in central Ohio. Established in 2011 by the New Albany Community Foundation in collaboration with The Ohio State University, COLA has impacted the lives of nearly 200 students from 67 high schools in the area. The six-day leadership experience provides a unique participatory experience that cultivates leadership, ethical decision-making, self-reflection and relationship building among the participants. Student learning is guided by an instructional collaborative that includes trained facilitators, educators from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University as well as community leaders from across central Ohio. Each COLA class is made up of no more than fifty rising high school junior and senior students representing urban, suburban and rural districts as well as public, private and charter schools. Ideal participants are students who have applied, or are applying, effective leadership skills in their schools or communities. These are students who would benefit from engaging with like-minded peers and spending time developing their sense of self. All eligible students are encouraged to apply and can learn more about the application process at www.coleadershipacademy.org

Miracle League

The Miracle League is a baseball league for children with developmental disabilities. Every Saturday from May to July, over 200 children from all over central Ohio play baseball on a specially-designed field at Darree Fields in Dublin with the support of their volunteer “buddies.” Buddies are middle school, high school or adult volunteers who assist players while they are batting, running the bases and playing in the field. Buddies must be 11 years or older or in at least 6th grade. This is an excellent opportunity to earn service hours for you or your school. Buddies are usually paired up with the same player for the entire season. The 2016 season will begin on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 and continue through Saturday, July 16th. There is a t-shirt pick up and fun day April 24th, 2015. There are eight 2-inning games every Saturday except Memorial Day weekend and July 4th weekend. The time commitment is about 1-2 hours each Saturday. Games run all day on Saturdays. If you are interested in becoming a buddy, you can register on-line at www.ohiomiracleleague.org. Hello! Welcome to Thomas Worthington High School's Job & Internship page. This can be a great resource for students throughout the year to regularly check for updates on who is hiring for employment and internships!
Employment (noun) [em-ploi-muh nt]: an occupation by which a person earns a living; work; business
Internship (noun) [in-turn-ship]: An internship is a temporary position with an emphasis on on-the-job training rather than merely employment, and it can be paid or unpaid. If you want to go into publishing, you might have to take an internship before you are qualified for an actual job.
